Screen Reader Formatting/Syntax
Jul. 8th, 2022 04:10 pmHey there internet,
As screen readers have ascended into the internet consciousness I've seen more and more text descriptions of images in the wild. (About time!) However, I've seen sufficiently differing formatting on these descriptions such that I'm not what the standard is. I'm not sure if there is a singular standard.
I am not very good at research in the first place† and in this particular case I know that I don't know beans– I'd have no way of vetting whether a given search result was good, bad, bunk, part of some complicated maneuvering between various invested parties, etc. But I'd like to put screen reader-friendly descriptions on images I post!
If anyone has pointers, guides or some authoritative advice I am all ears/eyes/electroreceptors.
† Understatement. I have some "I guess I'm supernaturally cursed?"-tier stories.
