How's everyone else's century plague going? I am, for the moment, as best I can be aware, Not Sick Yet. :) Forgive me if I focus on hobby topics but No News Is Good News IRL and that's that.
I have been bouncing between video games and ARTPGs at full speed! Pokemon Shield was fun; Animal Crossing New Horizons was even better; FFXIV continues to delight. I dipped deep back into Warframe for awhile but I'm tapering off again now that I have secured Loot Goblin Prime and Butterfly Prime. Also FFXIV is finally thundering towards the next update and I am the fun kind of terrified of what that bit of story is going to do to me. Exciting!
I also acquired My Koi on one of my late-night ill-advised larks. It's actually worked out well considering it was only $3 and I'm still enjoying the "digital koi pond" thing. Functionally this has filled the ecological niche that I was using daily-checkup phone games for... kinda... as Rakko Ukabe finally burst the bubble in December and I dropped it.
On the ARTPG front I eventually set Kukuri aside to focus on Evoloons, then Snakekeys, since their art requirements were easier on top of the games in general feeling less soul-blastingly grindy. I was semi-recently bitten by dopamine deficiency and joined another group, a Pokemon-themed one set in its own made-up area; I was then also tapped to help design a Pokemon ARTPG. That's still in-progress but I wanted to note it down for posterity: I was just trying to throw out ideas but I kept throwing and it turned into sort of a committment. Having said that, my traitor brain has been circling for my art capabilities to catch up to my Kukuri ambitions... I've been toying with taking another crack at it.
The ol' textual roleplaying has been going pretty swimmingly too! One ongoing plot faltered pretty badly as 2020, uh, *gestures at metaphorical ocean fire* and that friend suffered (though they're alive and not doing The Worst, thank tomato; just too tired to put a lot of energy into silly funtimes hobby). But someone else I'd only briefly typed with turned out to have more compatable scheduling and interests than I'd first guessed. An interesting side-effect of the flurry of one-offs and character experiments has been feeling like my RP capabilities are improving in terms of output speed. I'm not convinced that's factually true! I am actually suspicious it has something to do with diminishing returns on post length relative time: this friend sets the bar near the point where I am exponentially faster despite relatively modest decreases in post size. As soon as I try to lengthen posts a bit the timer starts creeping the heck back up. But it's certainly interesting either way, and creative writing with pals is just fun, so hooray!
